Hello friends and fellow travellers.

I decided to do a quick check-in  to show you a sneak preview of what to expect in the next couple of posts from me(Val!). I was initially hoping to post as I travelled, but lack of consistent wifi proved to be a major drawback to my plans. I am now back in my home away from home, Leeds, overcome with the amount of essay writing, laundry, grocery shopping and exercising that I need to catch up on. Some of you may have seen a few of my travel pics on BigPictureStuff Instagram , so you may have a rough idea of where I’ve been but I can not wait to show you more pictures.

In order through the amazingness that is Eurail we travelled to the following cities and countries;

1.Belgium (Brussels & Brugge)
2. Germany (Hamburg, Munich & Berlin)
3. Austria (Vienna)
4. Hungary (Budapest)
5. Czech Republic (Prague)
6. Poland (Krakow) with a random stop over in Slovakia
7. Austria (Salzburg)
8. Netherlands (Amsterdam)

Never thought I would be able to say I have been to so many cities and countries in 28 days, but we did it! I am beyond excited to show you the photos I took (Kate and Rach, who were my amazing travel buddies, said they can’t imagine my face without a camera ) and to tell you about the people we met and the things we saw. So to make sure I do get as many pictures to you as possible, I aim to get to you a-post-a-day, so stay posted and you can have your own little travel adventure through BigPictureStuff!

Hello friends of BigPictureStuff,

As well as supporting photographers and designers, BigPictureStuff extends to all outlets of creativity, may it be; music, dance, performance, writing, journalism. Anything which involves people pursuing their dreams, taking risks and creating all forms of art and beauty. With that in mind, we are pleased to introduce the first musical feature on BigPictureStuff today, Devan & Khalid , two young musicians from Toronto, who’s first  EP “This Town”, fills our days with glorious acoustic tunes and sweet melodies of easy listening.

DEVAN & KHALID Devan Glover

Firstly, congratulations on your first ever EP! How long did it take to write, record and to finally release these songs?

We have been working towards completing these originals for quite a while, but the actual process of finishing the songs and recording took a couple months. The recording process took a full 13 hours in the studio, not including time to mix and master the final tracks.

What came about the formation do Devan and Khalid?
Khalid and I were always a little bit active in the music scene at our university before we met, but when we were introduced by mutual friends at a party, this is when we decided to get together and start taking music more seriously. Eventually we started booking shows and practicing a lot more, and have been ever since!

How has connecting with others helped fuel and support your creativity?
Having the support of Khalid and other musicians who I have met has pushed me to try new things with my music, and has motivated me to write more and perform more

What do you hope people will feel or gain from listening to the sounds of Devan&Khalid?
I hope that people will be able to relate to our music and that the songs will be able to enhance whatever emotions they may have been feeling. That’s definitely what they do for me. I also hope that the songs will inspire people to do what makes them happy!

What does “Big Picture Stuff” mean to you?
“Big picture stuff” is “inspirational and amazing! It celebrates the little happy things in the world and always makes me smile when I look at it ” -Devan Glover

Trying to stay classy while the wind in billowing your skirt multiple directions can prove to be difficult at times. Thankfully I got myself covered in the feet and the chest area, so all I had to worry about the wind exposing my lower half. But besides the problems that come from wearing skirts, I truly enjoy wearing clothes that just emmet a great level of feminity. Not to say that I don’t love my lazy pants, because I do, but wearing skirts and blouses with pink on them make me feel a bit lighter, a bit bouncier, just girly! It’s fun to throw in just a little bit of pink into your outfit and embrace that inner child when it comes to accessory choices. Like my pink ray bans for example. Protection from the sun, but making it fun!

Other fun fashion choices: sparkles, bright prints, cats, etc. We all have our weaknesses! Mine happen to be all of the above and polka dots. I adore polka dots.

Hope everyone is having a delightful week thus far, we are super excited to be bringing you more and more content cause we got so much to share with you! What are your fashion weaknesses btw? Look in your wardrobe, what do you have heaps of? I know our friend Elaine has SO MANY playsuits and crop shirts! And I’ve got a polka dot outfit for every occasion. How about you? 🙂

With Love

Blazer: Her Pony
Shorts: Her Pony

We’re so so so happy to share these series of photos with you lovely bunch! We had such an incredible time shooting with the amazing Alexia, it was such a wonderful day! If you’re wondering where this ranch that we speak of resides, it actually is a heritage house in Melbourne, Australia, the wonderful Como House. It provided us with the perfect backdrop for the day and just highlighted the outfit so well. As we shot these images, it did bring to mind those old Western films, as Alexia posed and the wind whipped her hair and the dust rolled up from the ground. You must remember those films, think of Clint Eastwood, Scarlett O’Hara and the words “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.” Is this setting the scene for you? The good, the bad and the ugly, that sort of thing.

But moving on from the Western imagery, we’re loving the two piece that Alexia is rocking from Her Pony. Two pieces manage to carry a level of sophistication and class, yet is also cute and fun! Try it out guys! I’m sure you’ll make some excellent combinations! Currently Val is making her way around Eastern Europe so she’ll update you all when she can, but in the mean time welcome to the ranch!
