Bonjour My Dears!

I know I said my last post I was sharing pictures of Florence but I couldn’t resist showing you these photos of the amazing Louve and my ‘borrowed bag’.

I always seem to be passing through a city when something exciting is happening. (Very much unintentionally!) So have been very lucky to have arrived in Paris during the time of Paris Fashion Week. Hence alot of good looking individuals and wonderful opportunities for sneaky street fashion photos.

This amazing bag which I was given the pleasure of posing with, is Bao Bao by isseymiyake. As soon as I saw this technicolour and geometric design, I was in love. This amazing pattern  is a common trend throughout their entire colourful collection. which seem to change colour and capture the light in completely wonderful ways.  The contours, the rendering make Bao Bao seem like a piece of art (an art piece which also conveniently can hold your wallet, phone and lipstick) which feels so great to hold, as it seem to mould itself your arm and fingers.

Sadly, this gorgeous bag doesn’t belong to me but to the amazing Anya and Bella who were holidaying and working in Paris for the week. Anya works for Issey Miyake and was there for Paris fashion week and Bella (who actually took these photos of me) was lucky enough to come for the holiday! Thanks so much to these wonderful ladies for letting me vigorously inspect your Bao Bao bags and to be in awe of this amazing piece of design.

And the final image, is probably one of the most famous ladies in the world. The Mona Lisa, man that lady knows how to command a room!

Hoping to show you more of Paris and of my favourite parts of Italy

 Hello Friends!

A celebration of the patron saint, St Andrew, the Lisboa Festival is a month long event celebrated yearly in Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon. Much more your typical public holiday, the Lisboa Festival consists of fun filled nights of sangria, salsa, sardines and super cute plant things that give you good fortune. In all its grandeur and festivity the Lisboa festival is a wonderful display of Portugal’s colourful and rich culture.

Mind you, I had no expectations for Portugal. Decided to journey here on the recommendations of friends (thanks Lauren and Katie!) and on the invitation of another amazing friend, Michelle.  To inform my decision a quick search though instagram’s hashtag: ‘#portugal’ helped motivate my yearning drink in the sights and views for myself. Making me very eager to see the colourful buildings and adorable trams so notable of Portugal.

And my verdict so far? Absolutely wonderful. Portugal is such a beautiful city, full of little quirks and bold flashes of colour. From the decorative tiles to the festive tinsel adorning the spaces between buildings. Every corner of Lisbon makes me feel like I’m in a constant street party. Yes it is very hilly, something which has taken its toll on my shoes and my calfs. But it just means you can get an even more amazing view of the city.

Trying something new and have been experimenting with editing and film. I’ve been inspired with a few of my friends; John, who is an incredible film maker (my favourite one you can watch here) and my gorgeous friend Eva, who makes videos of all her trips.

I’ve finished my ‘Portugal’ film, so hopefully will be able to upload and show you soon!

‘Ciao’

( as my next post will be about Florence!)

Ah Florence, Tuscan sun, pizza and black truffle pasta brought me into an Italian dream of well designed fashion and furniture. My stay in Florence overlapped with the prestigious and infamous once a year men’s fashion event; Mitti fashion fair.  Mitti is the most anticipated fashion event for men’s wear (something I didn’t know prior to Florence) a gathering of fashionistas and fashion designers, dictating the hands of fashion for the next year ahead. Found out about this event from Instagram, which explained the hash tag “Mitti” and the number of well dressed men in florence. I have this immense adoration for men’s fashion, so my eyes were popping out of their sockets at the number of tailored coats, leather shoes and cuffed trousers. Which explains the number of well dressed men present in my photos of florence.

As well as taking stalker shots of people I visited the Uffizi gallery where I saw the stunning Bortecelli birth of Venus (it was actually so beautiful), saw the St Maria Duomo (majestic renaissance art at it’s best) and saw the most magical sunset from Michaelangelos viewpoint which is where the original Colossal David statue was situated.

Sorry for the lack of posts. My computer drive is full so it’s preventing me from editing photos! So hoping to get settled in London and pumping out more posts! (I have enough content for three posts a day!)

And exciting news….Vess and my dear friend Emily are now in EUROPE!! As you can see on our instagram Can not contain my excitement!!

Hey there!

Having been apart from Vess for the past six months have been difficult. Not having my design buddy, photographer and convenient fashion model has created a very large ‘Vess shaped’ hole in my life. It’s been challenging to whip out my camera, to write blog posts and to think creatively when I don’t have my creative partner in crime with me.

Despite the void that Vess has created in my life, I’ve been so blessed to have my friends to help me get through it. Rach being one of them. Always up for supporting Big Picture Stuff and encouraging out writing, photography and design antic, she is one valued friend.

Feeling reflective today as I read back on my last blog post Munich: Travel thoughts.  It seems that I may need to apply and take a piece of my own advice. Why you may ask?  Well, I am embarking on a new journey. One that will hopefully push my out of my comfort zones, force me to be self reliant and hopefully leave me a better and more wiser individual. (Or leave me with stories of countless of unfortunate circumstances).

This is amazing journey is….that I am going solo travelling around Europe for the first time! I know, may travellers have gone before me and done solo travelling. Some even prefer it. But being a twin from a close knit family it is very rare that I am completely on my own, with no one to back me up or to help me on the way.  I’m anticipating some great stories to tell of typical ‘Val moments’ and excited to share the stories I obtain, things I discover as I attempt to make my way across Portugal, Italy and France.

I’m sure it’ll be as delightful as these daisies decorating Rach’s head!

Necklace: New Look

Hello Friends

Finding the time  to take fashion posts have proven quite difficult, especially in the bi polar weather of England. Yes, it’s suppose to be summer here in the UK, (correct me if I’m wrong) but there seems to be a bit too much rain for my liking. Hence the artistic inclusion of the umbrella in some of these shots. I’ve included some of my favourite pieces at the moment (all new items actually! Now I know why my luggage is 10kgs over.)  The bag is handmade by Arquitube in Spain, bought at Camden markets in London. Yes, it’s the cutest shape. This waterfall/mullet/half cut off Zara skirt was bought at a flea market in Amsterdam and this top is also from a second hand seller in Leeds. Matched with shoes are from Primark and this adorable necklace from New Look, I’m looking forward to wearing these items back in Melbourne.

On another note, I’ve got my bags packed and ready to fly into Portugal this afternoon. Yes, another month of travel. This time I’ll be exploring, Portugal, France, Spain and Italy. Anyone have any recommended places to stay, food to eat and things to see? Would love some travel tips and advice from you dear friends!

P.S Definitely check out the designer store Arquitube where this satchel is from. It’s divine! They sell the most amazing leather bags and even arquitubes, for the architecture students out there! Trust me, you’ll love it!
