Life forms no logical patterns, it is haphazard and full of beauties which I try to catch as they fly by.

Hello friends

Sharing the landscape with the Eiffel tower while wearing one of my favourite Parisian vintage dresses. Taking photos with my dear friend Alice. Enjoying the Paris sunshine. Taking photos infront of the Louve.

Are all parts of memories I don’t want to forget.

However, they are apart of my memory which is fading. Names of places become fuzzy, names of food aren’t contained in my memory bank and each church becomes meshed into one. Looking back on a diary entry written on the plane back to Melbourne, I read the words,  ‘I’m scared to forget.’

Maybe some of you travellers feel the same?  Afraid of forgetting the thrills, the unexpected moments, the excitement, the inspiration and the beauty. Or maybe some of us are afraid of forgetting our ‘travel self’ that more adventurous, more motivated, more inspiring character who was willing to step out of their comfort zone rather than accept normality and safety. I know I am.  Scared of forgetting these special experiences, those special moments and that special person I had thought I had become.

What do you guys think? Did you have similar fears when coming back home?

But I don’t want to let these fears stifle me but hoping to let it fuel my discontent with normality. To be inspired each day to see something different and new.

To fight these fears with the expectation. And the hope that there will be more adventures, more special moments, and more amazing memories.

Hello Friends

Big Picture Stuff has always loved showcasing people who inspire us and partnering with them to tell their stories. Stories of hope, stories of inspiration and stories of love.

This one is a story of love.

Scroll back up and read again from ‘The Beginning’, the story of two individuals coming together to make one story. With paths which cross and intertwine into the final  moment, the final crescendo of new and exciting beginnings. It is no secret that we love weddings. Photographing them, decorating them or even looking at them online brings both us such joy and happiness.

Hence Vess was so excited to help our dear friend Cheryl (you can read her story & her craft on Big Picture Stuff) with her wedding invites.  Rather than being printed on paper invites, Cheryl ingeniously proposed the idea to print her special message on locally printed, vegetable ink based tea towels! (I know, we love Cheryl so much!) Ensuring that Vess’ design would not go to waste nor be recycled with the mail, Cheryl’s tea towels are a fun, creative and unique way to communicate her special message while also providing a fun keepsake for friends and family.

Congrats again dear Benson and Cheryl, and thankyou for sharing your story with us.

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.” -Bob Marley-

Moving Images: Portugal

Hello friends,

Cities: Lisbon, Porto and Sintra

As promised in my previous post on Portugal here is my first ever attempt at filming and editing a ‘moving image’.

Videography adds an extra dimension to absorbing and interpreting the visual. As opposed to images, videos seem to have this amazing ability to capture more life, more colours, more atmosphere that an individual photo.

Don’t get me wrong, I will forever be a photographer, I love its ability to capture fleeting moments, which once passed can never fully be replicated. However I would say, videography is a new venture, which I’m excited to be doing more of, especially of my travels in particular places.

Bear with me as I’m still learning to manoeuvre my way around clippping and editing videos, but I’m planning on editing videos of Barcelona, Paris and Italy.

Hopefully I’ll be able to communicate to you, the charm of Paris, the colours of Barcelona and the rustic beauty of Italy!

Above I have also included photos from Sintra and Porto, two very beautiful cities within Portugal, which are a must see for any traveller to this beautiful and colourful country!

Keep Creative

Park Guell Barcelona

‘Colours, light, beauty and creation.’

These were the underlying themes of the architect, Antoni Gaudi, an innovator, a dreamer and the central figure behind the visual iconography of Barcelona and the creator of this magical and playful park. Park Guell, which is the backdrop of this present fashion post, was the dream housing estate of Gaudi who designed everything from the water system, to the seats, to the columns. All inspired by nature. As you can see the architecture is not typical of the standard straight lines of traditional houses. Rather it is like a symphony of colour, of form and of mosaics. As your eyes survey the landscape everything seems to curve and wind away from what we consider to be the norm and open our eyes to a new world of Park Guell, a world pulsing with life, colours and creativity.

Here’s a little snippet of our Barcelona adventure, looking back on my (Val) travel posts, I have so much more photos and places to share with you! Thankyou to Amy, who asked Vess to share some photos from Barcelona. If there is a particular place you would like to see photos from, please, don’t hesitate to ask. I love sharing them with you!

For those travelling to Barcelona, Park Guell is definitely worth the trip, it is a bit of a trek up a hill (there are a few escalators to help you up there) but the beauty and the magic is breathtaking. Bring a packed lunch and don’t forget to buy your ticket online first! Or they unfortunately won’t let you in.

I always forget to do this(write about the clothes !) Vess wears; skirt from Italy, Top from Zara in London and necklace from Collete

Will be posting more soon dear friends!

Grazie

Hello Dear Ones

Ever since I’ve followed bloggers such as Gary Pepper GirlZanita and Paris in Four Months I had always dreamed of shooting stunning images in front of the romantic and historical Eiffel Tower joining many other photographers before me. To me, it is such a symbol of Romanticism, of class and glamour and of a time where style was so delicate and refined.

My travels were filled with moments of wonder, moments of delight, moments of magic and moments to remember. Indescribable moments which I had to pinch myself and count my lucky stars. Shooting with the amazing Alexia from Pascal Et Al. with the grandeur of Paris as our backdrop, was one of those memorable moments. Taken in the presence of the amazing Eiffel Tower with the beauty of the Parisian landscape as our inspiration, these images encapsulates the classic Parisian beauty and fulfilled my dream of shooting in Paris. I am so proud of these images and so excited to being sharing them with you.

Our days together, spent with our dear friends Kate and Steph, involved finding stunning locations in Paris, eating macaroons and creating beautiful images.

Keep Chasing your dreams my Dear Ones, you never know when they will happen!

The above locations in order;

1) Laduree (Best Macaroons  in Paris, as seen in our Instagram )
2) Trocadero (Best place to view the Eiffel Tower)
3) Alexander III Bridge (The Most Beautiful Bridge in Paris)

Finally back in Melbourne after six months.

If anyone is interested in any collaboration shoot us a message!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
