Hello lovely friends.
We are very proud and happy to introduce you to the wonderful talents of fellow creatives; makeup artist Tammy Le and photographer Annie Bui as well as support the talents of the stunning Livia Lai. BigPictureStuff followers may recognise the beautiful Livia as one of the talented creatives behind many fashions collaborations previously featured on BigPictureStuff.

We had a chat with Annie and Tammy about their inspirations behind the shoot and what BigPictureStuff means to them.

Annie and Tammy

What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
Tammy : I have always admired Liv’s natural beauty and fashion sense and for a while I have wanted to work with her. She has amazing features and her face is a makeup artist’s dream to work with.
Annie: When Tammy introduced me to Liv we both agreed that we wanted to work with her. We used Liv’s fashion as our inspiration to create a theme that represented elegance and serenity.

How do you prepare/get ready for shoots like these?
We always discuss ideas/concepts and find inspiration on the Internet. A lot of our shoots have often been inspired by ideas branched out by a single photograph and one time, there was a photo shoot inspired by one of Tammy’s dreams. Prior to the photo shoot we like to go location hunting to find the most prettiest eye candy spot to photograph at and take test shots.

You two are quite the dynamic duo! How did you start combining your talents?
A: When Tammy was finishing her make up course early last year she asked me to take some photos for her portfolio, so we got together and completed our first shoot. We had a lot of fun and loved the final photos that we continued to do more and more, motivated by positive feedback from everyone. It became something constantly though about, so we have this mental never ending list of photo shoot ideas to look forward to!

And finally, what advice would you give to those who have similar passion for photography and makeup?
A: Go out and experiment as much as you can! It’s ok if your ideas don’t go according to plan. I have had many incidents where I have gone out to shoot for an hour or so and ended up not using any of the photos because I wasn’t satisfied with them. It has been said many times before, but practice really is the key!
T: The good thing about art is that there isn’t any right or wrong! Don’t be afraid to try ideas that are totally whack because the weirder, the better! Let out the inner artist in you.

What does “Big Picture Stuff” mean to you?

“Big Picture Stuff ” is about “the outburst of creativity for people who are hungry for art.” -Annie Bui & Tammy Le

That last question in regards to advice is great! I’ve always wanted to experiment with make-up and photography but I’ve always been nervous to stuff it up. “There’s no right or wrong in art.” Gold.

And also if you don’t mind me asking, where are all these pictures taken?

    • Tammy 27/03/2014 at 9:24 am

      Hi Susan!
The first location was at Fitzroy Gardens and the second location was at a sunflower field adjacent to the train tracks of Macaulay train station (:
