Happy Friday! Last month we had the opportunity to be a part of an awesome event which saw a bunch of passionate people work together for an important cause. We had the chance to play a part in the Light FM sponsored Free to Be concert, an event where local artists came together to sing, dance and perform to fight for the freedom for those trapped in human trafficking. We were overjoyed that we could contribute to something that we felt so passionate about, freedom and the arts. We know what you’re thinking, Val and Vess can sing and dance?! No we haven’t been hiding a singing talent, we left that to the professionals! We were lucky to lend our talents to assist the absolutely wonderful Red Hong Yi!
What’s warm and fuzzy but also sweet to eat? A crocheted donut of course!
Especially in this time of the year, with the end of year approaching and also the looming dates of not so nice things, such as assessments, exams, deadlines (going to stop there before you close this browser just from pure repulsion) we don’t feel sweet and fuzzy. Instead this horrible thing called worry comes and sucks out all of our energy!
Worry just takes all those good vibes that makes you awesome and throws it out the window. But we’re here to tell you that your good vibes are amazing don’t let worry suck them away!
This is a season where you’ll grow, learn and do so much more than you believe you can! It doesn’t feel awesome now, but when you look back, you’ll be amazed with what you were able to do!
But for now, we will tell you Donut Worry. Keep up the good positive vibes going by filling yourself with the cozy sweet comfort knowing that you can do this and you’ll get through it! Cause like how each doughnut is uniquely awesome because they have crazy cool flavours on top, you’re awesome cause you got all of this natural radness that is inside of you that makes you… you!
So tell worry to “get outta here!” and the next time you are faced with an arduous task and start to slip into a cycle of doubtful thoughts, stop yourself and yell into the sky. “I CAN do this, I AM a donut!!!”
So now go. Go and be rad like the wonderful donuts you are.

“Purer colours… have in themselves, independently of the objects they serve to express, a significant action on the feelings of those who look at them.”
Colour is beautiful, it’s valuable and it means to so much to us in a practical, spiritual and emotional sense.
You may have recently seen on Instagram and Facebook, we’ve decided to start an ongoing search for colourful walls in Melbourne.
Perhaps because no one else is.
Melbournians are known to dress super minimal and monochrome (a fashion trend which never seemed to fit my repertoire) and fashion bloggers of Melbourne do the same. Most take photos of beautiful black and white attire in front of white or grey walls, looking ultra sleek and suave. If you want ideas for locations to take photos like this let me know, I have a few up my sleeve.
I love Instagram, don’t get me wrong, but what irks me is the lack of colour. People tend to commit to images of just black and white to in order to gain a sublime and minimalist feel. Which I don’t condone, I just know that it’s something which Big Picture Stuff isn’t at all.
So now you have the back story. My idea didn’t take root until I connected with the ever so lovely Rosie from Rclayton (check out her amazing Instagram, it will seriously blow you away) who I believe resides in the sunny part of either Chicago or California. The amount of COLOUR bursting from her Instagram simply stole my heart and made me yearn to either buy a ton of paint, become a graffiti artist or move to L.A to chase my dreams of an Instagram rainbow.
But, in a sweet Instagram exchange Rosie encouraged us to “find the colour in your city, you just have to look”.
Never one to shy from a challenge I took it upon myself to do just that, hence our hashtag #COLOURMELBOURNE
So you know the drill, if you find a colourful wall in Melbourne use the hashtag. Doesn’t have to be extremely amazing, it could even be the side of your local Officeworks, it just has to have a bit of colour that inspires and brings joy to your day!
Here’s some colourful walls we’ve found so far.
Seeing Amy’s photo realistic drawings of whimsical, beautiful girls, you first question whether Amy’s work is a photograph or actually a drawing.
