I can’t believe what God has done
Through us he’s given life to one
But isn’t she lovely made from love”

Little toes and little fingers, small and delicate features, and when she awoke, her eyes shone with bright lights. Only a small person, yet the room instantly illuminates with her smile and gaze. A pleasant smile, a wave of a hand, tiny fingers reached upwards towards the sky.  A warm cuddle, soft hair, a treasure of  joy. She’s made with love, weaved with wonder and is truly one of a kind.

Special, remarkable and precious.

There are many words to describe the little wonder that is Leah. But I’m lucky, I’m blessed beyond belief to have a word that only I can use to describe her. So I would like to introduce you to my god daughter, Leah.

When Virginia and Reuel asked me to take photographs of Leah, I knew it would be special. And I was right. Taking pictures of people in love is one thing, but taking pictures of family, well you can feel the love, play and joy shine through these images. Almost as tangible as colours; the feelings of warmth and love simply paint these pictures with a warm glow. A bright glow of security, hope, beauty and pure deep joy.

Wonderful parents Reuel and Virginia, my dear friends, thank you so much for asking me to be god mother to your precious daughter. Thank you for this gift that you’ve given me and I will strive to love Leah with the same love that you pour over her.
Dear gorgeous Leah, I can’t wait to experience life with you and watch you grow. As you see things for the first time, as you learn, as you love. When you find what you’re passionate about, I’ll be here to cheer you on. When you are disappointed, I’ll be here to encourage you. Keep shining bright and just being you, simply wonderful.

Thank you so much friends for enjoying our blog and for looking at these images that are very special to my heart. I’m a little bit in love with these images and I hope you’re just a little bit in love too.

With much love
Vess

Photography: Vanessa Bong & Vanessa King

Sunlight, laughter, hugs, kisses. Old friends, children and sisters. Flowers, and ribbon. Joy and celebration. The love and beauty that is celebrated and shown when two people in love come together in marriage.

On the first of February, I was so lucky to witness and document the wedding of Mady and Luke. Shooting with my incredible photographer double (Vanessa King) we worked hard to capture every moment of this beautiful day. However, as much as I would like to say that we worked to the bone, I have to say that in the case, it was simply too easy.
Why? Simple. It was a photographer’s dream. The venue was stunning, with the sun hiding behind tall trees, little lace flags framed the space and little flower pots brought pops of colour and a touch of delight. The guests were lovely, everyone there was exceptionally kind and gracious and the joy that was on their faces was so easy to capture. It felt like a festival of family, as the guests sat on hay bales and shared the joy of the day together with pleasure and happiness. And the bride and groom? Well you can see for yourself. They were glowing.

There were so many touching moments throughout the day, from Mady cuddling her daughter Mackenzie as she put on her dress, to Mady and her father’s deep embrace as he prepared to give his daughter away. And of course, the expression on Luke’s face when he saw his bride for the very first time.

Mady and Luke, thank you so much for giving Vanessa and myself the opportunity to photograph your wedding. It was simply a day of immense beauty, joy and love. Wishing you all the very best for your new life together as husband and wife!

Love
Vess

Simon &  Nanna
One night he had a dream to propose  with a particular type of candy.  She heard about his dream, but didn’t think too much about it. He went and bought the candy and when he  came home, he asked her to close her eyes. Next moment she had the sweet taste of candy in her month

She opened her eyes,
He was on one knee
She was crying
He asked the question
She said yes

Love, beautiful stories and happiness, would be three descriptive words to describe this relationship. Having been dear friends since high school, these two fit together like salt and pepper, cheese and crackers, tom and jerrys. Their love and affection for each other is so enduring, much like the soft glow around clouds and leaves in the sunset, it leaves you warm and refreshed at the same time. I had the privilege of shooting some photos for them in a very quick photo shoot ( I think we shot for less than 40 min) in a short window of time when the sun was shining upon us in England . Looking through these photos I can not help but feel the same warmth and affection that they have for each other through the soft glances between them, the tenderness of their smiles and the joy in their faces. Everything is so special about this couple, from their engagement story to the way they hold hands and the date of their wedding.

Nanna is here on exchange doing her masters from Denmark  so while Simon was visiting for the weekend I offered to take a few photos for them. I met Nanna while being here in Leeds and she has honestly been so caring and kind . She is so loving and one of those rare people, who when she says “How are you?” actually means it and will sit and listen to you about what’s been happening in your life. When I asked Nanna and Simon what they did over the weekend they said they had spent an hour in a book store picking a book each. They plan to read through their books and once they have each finished, to send the books back to each other and swap over.

Like I mentioned before this couple is super cute

have a look at the date of their wedding:

Wedding day = March 14th 2015=  3/14/15  = 3.1415 = Pi to 4 decimal places

Thankyou Simon and Nanna for an amazing afternoon

I was recently approached by a friend’s friend to take wedding photos for their wedding next year. But as much as my heart yearned to say YES straight away, I had to decline and pass on the opportunity to Vess, cause I will most probably be away next year! (More ab0out that later, once I get confirmation, tehe!)

The request resparked my passion for wedding photography, and I spent a few good hours looking through our wedding and couple photos that we took last year. These photos were taken last year for this gorgeous couple Daniel and Nichola. It was seriously through God’s blessing that we (myself and our best friend and photography buddy, Emerald) was given the amazing opportunity to shoot our first wedding. Seriously such a wonderful experience. Words can not even describe the joy, happiness, sentiment, love and exhuastion that one feels when shooting a wedding. It’s exhilarating and challenging. It tests your photography skills, but more importantly your ability to enage with the emotions of a particular moment and your ability to capture those emotions within a single shot.

Digital photography obviously assists in capturing these moments as it gives you endless chances and opportunities but having too many opportunities can sometimes cause you to lose your focus, on really capturing rare few and special moments of a day.

So even in life, we are faced with many opportunities, so many that some of us have decisions paralysis. We may end up not making any decisions at all! But I guess, some times, we need to strip it back, rest in God, and trust he will provide for us and help us choose the  moments or experiences that require our fullest attention.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend dear friends!

Blessings

‘A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself.’ – Jim Morrison

As promised here are a larger set of photos from the photo shoot that I did with these darling group of friends. It was my dear friend Alex who actually approached me to take photos for her and her group of friends from her uni Chinese class. I affectionately called this post ‘china girls’ simply because these ladies grew in their friendship on an exchange trip to China. I don’t think they would have bonded or connected in any other way except for their studies in Chinese. (One plus for learning Chinese, you can make lifelong and amazing friends!)

Friendship is such a beautiful and amazing thing. It empowers, supports, brings life and hope to any situation and makes life so much more amazing!

So dear friends of BPS, and our close friends, thankyou so much for being such dear friends to us.

Even though sometimes we forget to say it, we really really really appreciate who you are in our lives!

let someone know that they are special to you today!
