Welcome 2014 and goodbye to 2013, a year of endings, beginnings but overall a memorable one! It’s barely into the new year and Val and I are so excited to be busy with projects and collaborations! We’ll also be posting up a 2013 reflection soon, so look out for that.
In the meantime, I am absolutely delighted to be sharing these images of my collaboration with the incredible photographer Chantelle Elise. 21 years old and amazingly talented, I discovered her work through her instagram account and was struck by the gorgeousness of her work. A couple of comments and emails later, and after a good stalk of her incredible flickr account, she supplied me with her images to work with. An absolute sweetheart, Chantelle’s only direction for this project was to “draw all over them!”, it was like a dream come true.
So armed with a gorgeous selection of photographs, imagination and support from an amazing photographer I begun sketching. When I first saw Chantelle’s images, I was amazed by the stillness and life that each of her photographs portrayed. I wanted to create dream like scenes that reflected the beauty of her photographs. So I drew winged creatures, which to me illustrated the movement that was evident in these still images. Almost a realisation of the life that Chantelle’s photographs quietly captured.
I hope you enjoy these series of images, it was an absolute pleasure to work on and I’m so grateful for Chantelle’s generosity. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, beautiful things can truly emerge in the world of the collaborative creative.
