GRATITUDE: Thankyou

Hello Dear Friends,

In light of many of the daily stresses that we have, Vess and I both have tried to develop a habit of Gratitude in our lives. To not only be more appreciative for the things around us but also to change our perspective and to gain clarity, especially when the stresses and worries of this world seem to choke us of our joy.

Here are some ways tips and tricks we’ve found to do with gratitude!

change your perspective, change your attitudes and change your life!

PRESENT IN ALL THINGS

1. Wake Up with Gratitude
Waking up each day and perhaps making a little mental list of what you can be thankful for really places things in perspective. Today I am thankful because…..I have a wonderfully soft bed, I have an amazing family, I managed to get to the bus on time, I saw the most beautiful sunrise on the way to work…. The list is endless! By being aware of how much we actually have been given, it shifts our focus away from what we don’t have. And we instead focus on the abundance that is already present. It gives us joy, clarity and so much more appreciative of our lives and makes a great start of the day!

2. Say Thankyou to someone
Giving thanks, make people happier, stronger, more hopeful and resilient. Studies also show that thankful people are less likely to have stress and health problems! I find that the most wonderful gift, is the gift of gratitude. I have a number of wonderful friends that have given me a hug, a note, a text message, or a small card to simply say ‘thankyou’. These little gestures, not matter how small, really brighten my day and makes me more confident in who I am, who I want to be and who I am becoming. Perhaps you can do the same by messaging a friend a quick thankyou message to say how much you appreciate them in your life.

3. Notice the Little things
Gratitude means being thankful, finding joy in the little things and acknowledging everything that we have been given. It means we don’t take things, people in our life, blessings and circumstances for granted and we can really live in the moment. My favourite part of the day is the ‘golden hour’ (photographers would know what I mean here!) when the sun seems to make everything come alive with colour and even the smallest leaf seems to glow with life. I love going for walks at this time to see the different colours of the leaves, the trees and flowers.  Find time in your day to go for a walk, a wander and find a place where you can really slow down and appreciate God’s creation and beauty!
