KITORRI: Oedipus and Elektra

Oedipus and Elektra is an urban sportswear label that sits within a hard-to-find niche, where vintage sportswear and contemporary fashion blend effortlessly. Not for the faint hearted, this Melbourne based label crosses boundaries and mingles with the unusual. It belongs to those who prefer to play leader not follower.

From classic psychology, the Oedipus and Electra complex is suggestive of a competitive nature. At the very core of the brand, this competition creates designs that inspire forward trends for the individual who seeks diversity.

Both futuristic and daring, Oedipus and Elektra boasts a range of original textile prints, paired with modern construction techniques to push boundaries and bring innovative visions to life.

It also challenges the role of gender in fashion and fosters new experiments in androgyny to realize assured, alternative collections that go to the heart of the identity. This is your exclusive invite into a subculture characterized by intelligent design and considered choice.

Late last year in November I was approached by fashion designer Kitorri to shoot her end of year project. Titled Opedius and Electra her three pieces, the top, skirt and leggings were designed, stitched and hand made with care and passion. It was a privilege to shoot Kitorri’s designs in this beautiful and rustic studio space in Collingwood, a very different setting to my usual preference for flowers, gardens and Victorian architecture. The very talented David, Angi, Luke and Tapasvi, friends who enjoy making films joined us on the day and created an epic fashion film (check it out below) full of smoke machines and lights.

I’m so happy to be able to share this with you guys and to show you a little more of what we enjoy creating and making. Maybe people tend to specialize in one area of photography while I find it so hard to narrow down my focus. Simply because I love taking photos! I love helping people with my passion, may it be a wedding, events, fashion or birthday, as long as there is a person in it, I’ll shoot it!

Last few days I’ve been really stressed out, with the amount of side projects, personal projects and personal journeys that I have been going through. But I’ve had to take a step back and really be thankful for what I have. We’ve been so blessed with people interested in our work and I’ve been over whelmed with the amount of support we’ve received from not only friends, but complete strangers who have seen our work on instagram, our blog or facebook. So thankyou for believing in us, showing us your love and for being the creative tribe that I am so blessed to be apart of.

Next few days you can expect to see some more cooking content from Viv and a very special announcement on the weekend relating to an exciting side project we’ve been working on!
