“Be generous with me and I’ll live a full life; not for a minute will I take my eyes off your road
Open my eyes so I can see what you show me of your miracle -wonders”
Psalm 119:17-24a (message)
The photographer, the prop manager, a beautiful young mum and a sleeping baby made their way to the park in the late afternoon. It neared dusk as we hurried to the park, we moved as quickly as could to grasp the last moments of light that the afternoon held. Val had approached Helen the week previously and asked her if she could take pictures of her and baby Tiah, and Helen had agreed with enthusiasm and even arranged to drive us to our location! The car ride was quick, but the conversation felt long as we heard Helen’s story.
We met Helen through our friend Rachael (yes the same Rach who got us tickets to the Etsy event!) and since meeting her we’re learnt about her past, her struggles and her hopes and her loves. Helen’s life has not been the easiest and she did admit to us that for the longest time she was lost and didn’t make the right decisions. Wrong crowd, wrong choices, unfair situations and disappointments. But then, things changed.
Tiah came into her life.
A bundle of hope, joy, goodness, life and beauty came in a tiny delicate package. They say that when a child comes into the world it makes the world a finer place to be. But in the case of Helen and Tiah, their love story is a four letter word. Hope.
Helen had something, someone, more to live for. Speaking to her about Tiah, she will tell you that Tiah was a blessing, in her words “Tiah saved my life”
As we listened to Helen and heard what sort of place she had once been, and heard what her life is now, we saw such an amazing transformation. We listened, learned and respected the changes Helen had made in her life. It was a complete turn around. Her decisions, her thoughts, her choices, everything that she’s doing in her life now are out of love. Love for her baby, Love for her Lord Jesus and Love for her life.
Mother and Child, Lost and Saved, Love and Hope, Helen and Tia.
So we entered the park, laid out the picnic rug, attempted to lodge letters into soil, ran circles around mother and babe and almost got blinded by the sun glare, all to capture the beauty, love and the story between Tiah and Helen. They were the best models! So easy and eager to get the shot, Helen bounced her baby, lifted her, flew her in the air, stroked her tummy, tickled her toes and kissed her cheeks. Tiah squirmed, yawned, giggled, laughed, blew bubbles, grabbed at Helen’s hair and was just extremely totally and completely cute.
So this is what we’re sharing with now dear readers! We had so much fun taking these photos with Helen and Tiah and Val got some really amazing shots from the day. What was I (Vess) doing? Mostly drinking a Macca’s Frappe and dancing around Tiah trying to get her to look at the camera, oh and lodging the LOVE letters into the ground… well you can thank me for that.
We had such a glorious time shooting photos with you Helen, thank you so much for sharing your story and your life with us. We hope that you enjoy these images that we captured of you with your little bundle of hope. These are times to cherish with joy and love. Little hands and little feet. But how amazing is it knowing that little hands and little feet are going to grow, learn, develop, hope and dream. Tiah is going to be such a beautiful young lady with your presevance, your sweetness, your love for your God and your ability to hope for tomorrow. She will be a young lady to make you proud and she will love herself as much as you adore her, and almost as much as your Heavenly Father absolutely delights in you.
And we hope to bring you more family portraits soon!
