There’s two things that I need to share.
One is a great love, the other, a lesson.
Firstly, my love.
And that’s pretty simple. It’s my love for type, design and bright colours. Like a kindergardener with a box of crayons, give me bright colours and some easy breezy lettering, and I’m going to smosh those things together like cookies and cream. For those who understand what I mean, we are kindred souls, for those who do not, I apologise for my extreme metaphor that may leave you with an icecream craving.
Secondly, my lesson.
It’s also pretty simple. When I created these encouraging statements, I did it for the PROJECTS fundraiser to be sold as encouraging cards. Something to give to others. To lift up another’s soul and give praise with fun words and funky circles. But these little statements have lead to an even greater lesson. It’s a lesson to be kind. Not just to those around us. But to ourselves. Often we allow ourselves to be our own worst critics; expressing judgement on ourselves, never ever do we appreciate our best efforts. “Good is not good enough” and the “best could always be better”.
But you know what, your good is actually fantastic, and your best is actually incredible. Each and everything thing you do is a gift to the world and therefore, amazing. What do we need to do? We need to be kind to ourselves and encourage all that we are.
So with a mix bag of curly letters and odd shapes, as you read these little encouragements, as odd as they are, I’ll like to remind you of things that may have forgotten.
And it’s this: that you are special, you are unique, you are capable, you are blessed and you are, super duper lovely.
Now say that to yourself five times and you’ve got it.
You’re practicing the magical art of encouraging yourself.
