Hello friends!

Being of the curious sort (I am known for asking a million and one questions to people) I always ask photographers who I come across questions about their photography. What drives them, motivates them and why they have an innate desire to shoot photos of people, animals, objects, landscapes, art, food and pretty much, whatever the sun touches!  So while in Leeds I joined the photosociety, where most were self taught photographers and were pursuing photography as a side passion separate from their day job.

Good news for me, they liked us so much that they let us join them on their photography trip to Prague!

What I treasured the most was seeing the different approaches to photography. Many of them were landscape photographers (something I need to practice a bit more of) so would wait patiently for a particular bit of sunlight or cloud for the perfect photo. Which is a stark contrast to the frantic way I take photos when working with a model. I’ve always approached photography as “capturing the moment” in a laugh and smile, never really going out with such intent to optimise on lighting nor being patient with waiting for “the shot “, however, once I saw some of their photos I was blown away.

The same view I had seen, forever captured in a moment by another but with more vibrancy and clarity than I could comprehend. The early morning sunrise photos, were magical and picturesque making me wish that I had sacrificed my sleep too to witness such beauty.

I’ve included some photos here of the Prague landscape and my dear friends who I am lucky to have met. If you have any questions about equipment or settings they have used. Ask away and we will be sure to pass it on to the right person!

Keep learning and exploring

Hello friends and fellow travellers.

I decided to do a quick check-in  to show you a sneak preview of what to expect in the next couple of posts from me(Val!). I was initially hoping to post as I travelled, but lack of consistent wifi proved to be a major drawback to my plans. I am now back in my home away from home, Leeds, overcome with the amount of essay writing, laundry, grocery shopping and exercising that I need to catch up on. Some of you may have seen a few of my travel pics on BigPictureStuff Instagram , so you may have a rough idea of where I’ve been but I can not wait to show you more pictures.

In order through the amazingness that is Eurail we travelled to the following cities and countries;

1.Belgium (Brussels & Brugge)
2. Germany (Hamburg, Munich & Berlin)
3. Austria (Vienna)
4. Hungary (Budapest)
5. Czech Republic (Prague)
6. Poland (Krakow) with a random stop over in Slovakia
7. Austria (Salzburg)
8. Netherlands (Amsterdam)

Never thought I would be able to say I have been to so many cities and countries in 28 days, but we did it! I am beyond excited to show you the photos I took (Kate and Rach, who were my amazing travel buddies, said they can’t imagine my face without a camera ) and to tell you about the people we met and the things we saw. So to make sure I do get as many pictures to you as possible, I aim to get to you a-post-a-day, so stay posted and you can have your own little travel adventure through BigPictureStuff!
