Seeing Amy’s photo realistic drawings of whimsical, beautiful girls, you first question whether Amy’s work is a photograph or actually a drawing. All of her artwork is created with pencil on paper, an idea, and a love for beauty. Starting her illustration journey with a self imposed challenge to draw something everyday, her sharing of her work quickly led to a following of 20K followers on instagram. We sat down with her and talked about her creative journey and her passion for art.
This world is but a canvas to our imagination —Henry David Thoreau-
One of the most difficult things to hold onto in growth and in life is the simplicity of creativity. When it really didn’t matter what colour your mixed on your palette, but all that mattered was the fun of play. Playing with strokes of paint, bold splashes of colour, in playful acts we learnt, created, formed and shaped new canvases of pure joy.
These days everyone in Melbourne is feeling the touches of spring. Be it the warmth of the sun, the bright colours of the flowers, or even by the increased number of hay fever tablets being sold. One thing that always captures the atmosphere of Melbourne’s Spring time has to be the Spring Races. A mix of horse racing and delightful hairpieces, the Spring races heralds the beginnings of the new season and highlights exciting fashions.

“Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It’s enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.”
The days that we engage with are filled with simple pleasures. The warmth of sunshine, the rolling sounds of rain. If nature doesn’t get to you, maybe it’s the smile of a loved one, the beauty of a shadow, the smell of tea. Just those little things that capture your heart and take your breathe away. If you look really closely, you can feel the beauty in every little thing. Sure, we mostly see beauty in large grand works of people, in art, architecture, in film. But the type of beauty that you see everyday, is simply for you to see. Why, because you will enjoy it.
“Life is a big canvas, throw as much paint on it as you can.”
Once the enjoyments of life are readily observed, that’s not the end of it. The witness of beauty is not meant to be hoarded, but the beauty of life and love grows in the midst of sharing and expression. We each have colours in us,bold, bright, joyful colours. Tones that are manic, full, expressive, almost frightfully passionate. Inward, these colours feel overwhelming, but once expressed, these colours feel complete.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.
Audrey Hepburn is undoubtably one of the most beautiful women to have graced this planet. She starred in a countless number of movies, such as Roman Holiday and My Fair Lady, however, her most iconic film has to be Breakfast at Tiffanys even if you haven’t seen the film, you will have heard of it! Miss Hepburn showed us how to truly rock a little black dress with a string of pearls, and the best way to look alluring with large sunglasses and massive hats.
However, beyond being a style icon, Audrey Hepburn was a gorgeous woman who clearly placed so much value on people and up till the end of her life, devoted time to humanitarian causes. After quick sketch, some colouring in watercolour and line with the ink, such an inspiring women now graces Val’s bedroom wall.
