We truly don’t know where life is going to take us. Whether it’s to new adventures or to places that we couldn’t possibly imagine being. But there’s one thing that’s for sure, good friends will always make this journey called life worthwhile. This is truly the case through my recent times as a freelancer. Starting out, I had no clue how I was going to be able to be a freelance designer, would I be able to find work? Would I have the capabilities to look after projects and be smart with my time and money? Will I be able to have money to live! (It was all good! I had savings for this time!) Those were all things that were just coursing through my head, a never ending stream of doubt, questions, concerns. But, having doubt isn’t a sign that you’re not capable, it’s just a product of fear that we can have as human beings that cause us to analyse the situation. So I did what seem like a good idea, which was to reach out to those wiser than me.
Happy Friday! Last month we had the opportunity to be a part of an awesome event which saw a bunch of passionate people work together for an important cause. We had the chance to play a part in the Light FM sponsored Free to Be concert, an event where local artists came together to sing, dance and perform to fight for the freedom for those trapped in human trafficking. We were overjoyed that we could contribute to something that we felt so passionate about, freedom and the arts. We know what you’re thinking, Val and Vess can sing and dance?! No we haven’t been hiding a singing talent, we left that to the professionals! We were lucky to lend our talents to assist the absolutely wonderful Red Hong Yi!
Seeing Amy’s photo realistic drawings of whimsical, beautiful girls, you first question whether Amy’s work is a photograph or actually a drawing. All of her artwork is created with pencil on paper, an idea, and a love for beauty. Starting her illustration journey with a self imposed challenge to draw something everyday, her sharing of her work quickly led to a following of 20K followers on instagram. We sat down with her and talked about her creative journey and her passion for art.
If we were given the opportunity to share one piece of advice to the whole world this is what we would say. Give yourself to your passions and be the artist that you are destined to be.
