Tale of Two Sisters

Sometimes serendipity is just intention unmasked.

Elizabeth Berg

Creativity can sometimes seem like an isolating task. The idea of the artist working late nights and plugging away alone at their desk. Or the creative genius that harbours their skills awaiting that moment of pure inspiration to hit. For some, this formula is the only way that they can work, while for others, attempts at this formula results in a hit or miss situation. When it works, it leads to great streaks of productivity, when it doesn’t, it results in hours of scrolling on buzzfeed.

However, we’ll talk about productivity at a later stage, today we’re here to express the power of working with other creatives within their various skills and interests. Have you ever met someone for the first time and after an hour, felt like you’ve known them all your life? Or have you ever met someone and thought to yourself, “how do we have so many of the same interests, values and dreams, and we’re only meeting now?” That’s how we felt when we met the girls from Method to Maya; Annie and Tammy.

You would have seen their interview with us a while back when we shared beautiful collaboration with our favourite fashion blogger: L is for Olive, but on the 23rd November was an important date in our calendars. 23rd of November was to be our second meeting, our first photoshoot together and be a day of serendipitous moments.

As we took an hour’s car ride to our location, we shared retail horror stories, thoughts on the future, our love for blogging and photography, and a little bit of our lives. As we stepped out of the car into the forest canopy, we were struck with the beauty of the location, the wonder of our day and the potential of the art we were about to create.

What happened next was nothing short of magical. The Big Picture Stuff girls braved the cold waters and attempted to look serene whilst dodging river leeches. And the Method to Maya girls touched up faces, scouted locations, moved ferns, got their feet wet, wished the sun away and created art. The way these two work is nothing short of phenomenal. Vision, drive, compassion, patience and excellence. It was a dream to work with them and a dream to be a part of something so magical.

When first heard the names “Annie and Tammy” we had no idea that we would soon meet two of the most beautiful, talented, kind and creative individuals. We had no clue that we would soon spend a beautiful afternoon with such amazing ladies. We could not have predicted that we would have the priveldge to be a part of such incredible art. A serendipitous meeting that felt like so much more than a coincidence.

To see more photos of our favourite photoshoot ever, please head over to Tammy and Annie’s brand new blog Method to Maya and show them support and love. These creatives are going to go so far because of talent, love and their passion to create.

While here you can enjoy some Behind the Scenes photos!
